Oaktree Court Secures Majesticare Grant for Life-Saving Defibrillator Fund

We are thrilled to announce that Oaktree Court has been awarded the Majesticare Grant for July, receiving £250 towards their ambitious community defibrillator fund. This vital piece of medical equipment will provide crucial support to residents, visitors, team members, and the wider community in Wellington, potentially saving lives in critical situations.

The Majesticare Grant Scheme is designed to offer assistance to charitable causes and community projects close to the hearts of our team members, embodies our ethos of giving back and making a positive impact.

Strengthening Community Bonds Through Health Initiatives

Oaktree Court has long been dedicated to fostering strong ties with the local community, and this latest initiative further cements that commitment. Currently, the nearest defibrillator is a concerning seven-minute drive away - a distance that could prove fatal in a cardiac emergency. By securing a defibrillator on-site, Oaktree Court aims to ensure immediate access to life-saving equipment, benefiting not only the care home's residents and team but also local neighbours who might otherwise struggle to reach the nearest device in time.

"We're passionate about strengthening our connection with the local community" shared the Oaktree Court team. "We believe that investing in this essential equipment demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the well-being of Wellington residents, both within and beyond our care home walls."

Accelerating Life-Saving Initiatives

The £250 Majesticare Grant marks a significant milestone in Oaktree Court's fundraising efforts. With the total cost of the defibrillator estimated at approximately £1,400, this grant brings the care home one step closer to realising their goal of creating a safer community for all.

Ruth, Home Manager at Oaktree Court, explained the impact of the grant: "We've already begun hosting fundraising events, but our priority is to reach our goal as swiftly as possible. This generous grant from Majesticare will allow us to proceed with the purchase of the community defibrillator with less delay, potentially making a life-saving difference sooner rather than later."

An Independent Seal of Approval

The grant's independent judge was Nicola Ricketts from Care Friends.

The selection of Oaktree Court as the grant recipient was independently judged by Nicola Ricketts from Care Friends. Nicola was particularly impressed by the strong community spirit reflected in the application, noting the care home's proactive approach and dedication to learning.

She shared her thoughts: "The community spirit at the heart of this application truly stood out to me. I was impressed that the applicant has taken the initiative to organize multiple fundraising activities and sought expertise to expand their knowledge. The applicant also demonstrated great dedication to the Majesticare brand and its reputation in the local community, which is commendable."

Raising the Bar for Local Care

Oaktree Court's vision extends beyond merely securing a defibrillator; they are striving to set a new standard for care homes in the Wellington area. As the first and only care home in the locality with plans to have a defibrillator on-site, Oaktree Court is positioning itself as a pioneer in community care and safety.

Congratulations to Oaktree Court for their well-deserved win! We look forward to seeing the positive impact this life-saving equipment will have on the Wellington community.
