Meet Peanut: Cavendish Park’s Furriest Team Member

Walking into Cavendish Park, there’s a real sense of home. Familiar faces, laughter, companionship and plenty of personality fill each day. And, of course, no home is quite complete without a furry friend.

At Cavendish Park, that furry friend is Peanut.

Peanut first began visiting in May 2025, shortly after her family adopted her. They live in the new homes just beyond the Cavendish Park garden, and it wasn’t long before Peanut began exploring a little further afield.

At first, she was shy and a little nervous, cautiously getting to know her new surroundings and the people she met along the way. That soon changed.

“She just appeared one day,” says Lucy, Administration Manager at Cavendish Park. “And before long, she had made herself right at home!”

Today, Peanut couldn’t look more comfortable. Whether she’s stretched out for a nap, keeping a watchful eye on reception or wandering through the home looking for familiar faces, she has become a much-loved part of everyday life at Cavendish Park.

In fact, Peanut seems to take her role rather seriously. By 8 am, she's often waiting at the door, ready to begin another busy day. “I usually find her waiting for me when I arrive in the morning,” says Lucy. Need someone to keep an eye on reception? Peanut is there.

Fancy a little company? She’ll happily settle beside you.

And if she hasn’t been spotted for a while, it isn’t long before someone asks the question that has become very familiar at Cavendish Park: “Where’s Peanut?”

For people living at Cavendish Park, animals can bring something wonderfully familiar to everyday life. A gentle presence, a little companionship and those spontaneous moments that help make a place truly feel like home.

Being pet-friendly is about much more than simply welcoming animals through the door. For many people, pets have always been part of family life, everyday routines and treasured memories. Peanut certainly seems to understand that she belongs.

She does, of course, have a home and family of her own to return to. And while her days at Cavendish Park might be filled with naps, attention and plenty of company, her family say there is another side to her personality once evening arrives.

It seems Peanut has found the perfect balance: relaxing days spent among friends at Cavendish Park, followed by adventures of her own before returning bright and early for another shift.

She may have arrived unexpectedly, but Peanut is now very much part of the family.

And sometimes, it’s the smallest and furriest members of a community who bring some of the biggest smiles.

So, if you walk through the doors of Cavendish Park and spot a furry face keeping watch around reception, there’s every chance you’ve just met the home’s most dedicated four-legged team member.

It’s Peanut, and she’s ready for her shift.
